Book reading

I'm struggling to read a book at the moment, its Bob Dylans chronicles, Volume One. I started reading it a while back, but I feel like it is going nowhere. I really hate it when that happens, especially as when I read a book it usually feels like an achievement. In fact I feel a bit smug with myself when I finish a good book, it's oddly satisfying. So having flirted with the idea of giving up on the book is some what distressing.
Biographies are odd. I for one have to be really in the mood to read a book about someone's life, and read someone else's views on life. Some of the time these views and tales can be so very interesting, compelling and maybe heart breaking. I read Jane and Mike Tomlinson book, and it was truly raw and yet incredibly inspiring. They did not hold back, which at times was uncomfortable, if you know what I mean.
I think its because I find books to be an escapism from everyday life. I love picking up a book, and being transported to another time and place that isn't quite like reality. But then as I read through some of Bob Dylans book, the prose is superb. His biggest flaw is going off on various tangents. There are no chapters to break down the book. That's a lie, there are break downs in the book, but marked as Part 1, Part2 etc. I don't know about anyone else but I find it difficult to read a book in bulk amounts especially when I don't have much time in the day to sit down and read.
I'm going to give it another go though, and I've set apart a few hours today to sit and give it a good go. It always help reading a book in a bulk, for me its a test. If I love the book after the two hours then of course I'll keep with it. If I find that I can't wait to put it down then ill give up and move on. It's called the sunbed approach. Because of course that's really the only time, when you can read a book in a bulk.
