Essays, Globalisation, Social Responsability

I am writing an essay on social responsibilty and its links to media globalisation. Though I can't seem to get down to work. It a topic that I have midly strong views on, however half the time I worry that I just talk crap and my views don't actually mean anything. Well they do, but not in an essay like this...but then I wonder if my views are at all valid. I can't explain myself very well.

I know that there has been alot of critism of globalisation, however I believe there are some good points to globalisation. For example, highlighting the poverty and debt situation in Africa has certainly contributed to a dramatic change in attitudes. And when the tsunami hit parts of Asia, the entire world felt an urge to help and ease the financial burden that comes with such a disaster. The news covered the clean up operation vastly.Even though the disaster happened thousands of miles away, it caused a global response, maybe this was partically because some of the places that were hit were tourist areas. It really hit home for some people, and this made the global news more localised and more of a reality. Many people were killed in the disaster, however the amount of people killed each day from HIV/AIDS in Africa, matches the same figure. So where is the vast amount of media coverage for this tragedy? Why does one deserve so much coverage, and one deserve so little? I don't know whether it's a matter of which one deserves more or not but maybe if we go back to that localized aspect then maybe we have an answer.

I am still finding it difficult to write a massive essay on this, it's annoying. Maybe its just one of those really bad motivation days.
