Religion- Who gets it?

I find religion interesting of late. I've never known really what my belief is. For a while I thought myself of an atheist, but I suppose in some ways I've always thought that someone or something watches over me. I don't know whether it is God, or something bigger. I really don't know.

Sometimes I hate the thought of religion. Rather than it joining people, it can separate them. It can cause conflict and at times make people say... Well you will never understand. Christianity is about forgiveness, but what if you can't forgive something so horrible and evil, that you end up feeling like you are loosing your faith. How do you deal with that, who is there for those who feel that abandonment?

Religion can provide a faith, a security blanket for those who are in need. Then there's the torment and the feeling that there is a loss of faith. Like I've said, I've always had a belief in something, and the thought of not believing in that something worries me at times.

I would like to explore other faiths at some point as its something that interests me. Religion, and faith does play a big part in our world... and I think it's something we must understand than dismiss or misinterprete.

I don't know what I am going on about here. But something I read tonight struck a nerve.

Top Gear Presenter Critically Injured

Legendary Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has been critically injured after a crash in a jet powered engine, while filming for the programme.

A North Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokeman informed the media that the presenter, 36, was air lifted to Leeds General Infirmary and is said to be unconscious and in a 'critical' state. The crash took place at 5.45pm on 20th September whilst filming was under way at Evlington in North Yorkshire.

Inspector Mike Thompson of North Yorkshire Police said:

"At 5.45pm this evening we received a report via the fire service of a male person trapped in what was described as an overturned jet car which had been driven on the airfield.

"The male occupant has received serious injuries and has been airlifted to hospital at Leeds."

Graduation Day

I had just written about my graduation, added photos and everything. I then went to press the preview button and it all disappeared. I am not amused.

Anyway, as I was saying, I better write about the graduation so here it goes.

The whole day was rather grand, with it being set in Lincoln Castle grounds and the ceremony taking part in the cathedral. However I couldn't stop giggling throughout the ceremony as the whole thing reminded of a scene out of Harry Potter. It was the procession of lecturers to the dooms day music that set me off. I swear wizardary was involved.

Anyway here's some pictures from that oh so joyous occasion.

I wont write much more as I've been told I write to much.

Book reading

I'm struggling to read a book at the moment, its Bob Dylans chronicles, Volume One. I started reading it a while back, but I feel like it is going nowhere. I really hate it when that happens, especially as when I read a book it usually feels like an achievement. In fact I feel a bit smug with myself when I finish a good book, it's oddly satisfying. So having flirted with the idea of giving up on the book is some what distressing.

Biographies are odd. I for one have to be really in the mood to read a book about someone's life, and read someone else's views on life. Some of the time these views and tales can be so very interesting, compelling and maybe heart breaking. I read Jane and Mike Tomlinson book, and it was truly raw and yet incredibly inspiring. They did not hold back, which at times was uncomfortable, if you know what I mean.

I think its because I find books to be an escapism from everyday life. I love picking up a book, and being transported to another time and place that isn't quite like reality. But then as I read through some of Bob Dylans book, the prose is superb. His biggest flaw is going off on various tangents. There are no chapters to break down the book. That's a lie, there are break downs in the book, but marked as Part 1, Part2 etc. I don't know about anyone else but I find it difficult to read a book in bulk amounts especially when I don't have much time in the day to sit down and read.

I'm going to give it another go though, and I've set apart a few hours today to sit and give it a good go. It always help reading a book in a bulk, for me its a test. If I love the book after the two hours then of course I'll keep with it. If I find that I can't wait to put it down then ill give up and move on. It's called the sunbed approach. Because of course that's really the only time, when you can read a book in a bulk.
